Dear Members of the Temple Family,
I am writing to encourage your participation in our L'dor V'dor Project. There are very few Jewish families that can trace their lineage back through several generations. Without question, compiling this information for generations to come will be a true legacy for them to cherish.
Many of you are blessed to come from families in which you can identify several generations of family members. To compile their stories, where they lived, what they did, whom they loved, and what Jewish ideals they cherished, can add enormous strength, not only to your loved ones, and not only to those who come after them, but to the entire Temple community, as a whole, as well.
To those of you who, like me, have great difficulty in identifying family members more than a generation or two before us, your efforts to gather this critical information can be the genesis of what those family members three generations from now will look back upon and cherish. In a very real sense, you can establish for them a legacy, which was unavailable to you. There can be no greater or lasting tribute than this.
Please take the time to help us launch and continue our L'dor V'dor Project. You have the extraordinary opportunity to memorialize those who came before you, even as you give a wonderful tool to those who come after you, to love and remember you.
Sincerely,
Mark Schiftan Rabbi
